Untitled (Transparent Flags), 2007–
Transparent organza flags, flagpoles, time
Each 150 × 255 cm
Number of flags, presentation and dimensions variable

The transparent organza flags call into question their social, economic and political settings. Indeterminate in appearance, devoid of any recognizable symbol, they suggest a universal dimension of the present, constantly redefining the instability and precariousness of the human condition in today’s world. A metaphor for non-belonging to any given territory, the project has been reactivated in several different locations and countries. The version shown at the 2017 Lyon Biennale comprised 12 flags in reference to the 12 stars of the European Union flag.
