Frosted mirror
200 × 300 cm
The entire surface of a large mirror is frosted except for a clear strip around the edges. This tiny area retains its original function and raises questions about existence on the margins, the periphery, the borderline of what is perceived to be real. The term “sideline” refers to sports fields where crossing certain lines puts a player out of the game. This metaphor crops up constantly in everyday life, symbolizing lives and events that cling by the wayside to avoid crossing the sideline and sinking into nothingness.
